HELP - Pass Side CV axle

I cannot get my right (passenger side cv axle out) out of the tranny. I got the rotor off, but can't figue out how to get the other (tranny) side out. I searched through almost 1,000 meassages here and read that there's a retained clip in the trany side, how do I get this out? I couldn't find anything with a scredriver.

Do I need to take the support bearing off? It is very difficult to get to and my socket keeps slipping -- I'm worried that I'll round the nut off.

I also read in the online Chilton's that I will need a special tool to put a new oil seal in, is this true?

ps. I have an '89 auto SE w/o ABS

1. theres not retaining clip on the passinger side axle

2. you do have to take the 3 bolts out of the axle bearing to remove to axle you may have to remove the ypipe to get enough room to get them out

3. you dont technicaly need any special tools to replace the seal but a seal puller and installer make the job much easyer and less likly to screw up the seal

Thanks for the advice.

I don't want to mess with the Y-pipe on my car because the exhaust studs are rusted to hell (as well as most of the exhaust system) and I really can't afford to replace it.

I guess I'll try a swivel socket and if that doesn't work I'll just drill them out with a dremel.. shi...

Also I tore a tie-rod boot seperating the ball joints, does anyone happen to know what size these are?
