it'll be close, but it should work.
I used 17x8 w 34 offset...
a 17x7.5 w/ 45 offset will sit as far into the wheel well as a 17x8 w/ 32 offset.

Uh it doesn't matter. Don't go down rice alley and get tires that are way too small in diameter.

whoever told you that should never recommend tires to anyone.

use the proper size tires and you won't have a problem.

if you want 45 series sidewalls, you'll have to go with a 235 treadwidth to fit properly.
(which the 235 may be too wide for a 7.5" rim, not sure)

No, 7.5" is the lower limit for 235/45 size tires, so they'll work, but then you'll rub.

Don't worry about the sidewall height looking too high, if that's what you're worried about, because it will be identical between 215/55 and 235/45 because it's a percentage. 215/45 is way too short.

You won't rub... I'm running 235/45/17 on mine now. 17x8 wheels.. 32 offset on the rims I'm using now, 34 offset on my previous set both fit fine.

235/45-17's on a 7.5" wide wheel with a 45 offset will rub in the back.

Yeah I just meant in this case his wheels would rub. I remember when Mr.Rose and James were trying to fit those Subzeros (which have identical specs to the wheels he's asking about) on their cars and Mr.Rose, who was trying to fit 235's, was encountering rubbing. Can't remember if that was in the rear only or both ends though....
