Looks like you are missing some *****! (on the second pic of the shaft that is, nothing personal) Did it make a wierd whirring noise whenever the car was in gear, and sometimes not in gear or is that something else? How much to replace something like that?

Was your car making a low grinding noise in 1st and 2nd gears? My car has this aweful sound, and I'm not sure if it's the axle or the tranny (most likely).

wierd. More Pics please

I took apart my old one about 1/2 way but then didnt have the tools/knowledge on how to take the rest of it apart (plus everyone was getting sick of the gear oil smell) so we just trashed it. (housing was busted and gears were broken).

my 92 is making a clicking/grinding sound in nutral but not nearly as bad as his so im assuming its the same thing but i dont plan to fix it till summer

My car makes the same awful grinding noise when it's idle, and in neutral. How much you think it's going to cost me to get a new input bearing?

well the bearing is only about 40$ but the labor could be anywhere from 400 to 800$

SO that's what it looks like?!? I HAVE to take pics on mine because if it looks as bad as it sounds, i bet there's only like 1 ball in there! Heck, I might as well go out tomorrow and buy the freaking thing and have it handy because I KNOW I need one. Any more pics? Oh and input bearing = release bearing = throwout bearing right?

input shaft bearing is the bearing on the shaft that goes into the clutch. the bearing is inside the case whereas the throw out bearing is outside the case. i have a sound clip of a bad input shaft bearing somewhere. i'll put it back online and post it for you guys.
