Idler Pulley

Hey guys, I need to replace the idler pulley. Are there any write up's for this? If not, have any of you guys done this and if so, please provide a description. So far, it's a dealer only part. Kind of frustrating, but I'm still looking for an after market one.

If its just the bearing thats bad, it should be easy to have someone press in a new one ( if you dont have access to a press )

Ok. Is there any trick to removing it? The last time I took the tensior pulley off of my Chevy truck I broke it and ended up causing myself some problems. Do you just remove the bolt from the pulley or do you have to releive the tension on it first or what?

the pulley for the AC tensioner is cake.. just remove the tension on the belt, then unscrew the bolt on the pulley.. the pulley will come off, then you can change the bearing in it.

the bearing for the VE is a 6301LU don't remember what it is on the VG, but I would think it's the same one.

look in your yellow pages under bearings and you should find a place locally that will sell you one. they will be $10-15, and probably special order (takes a few days).
just make sure the rest of the tensioner won't fall apart and drive with no AC for a few days until it comes in.
