OBD1?? ECU speaks for itself

I ran a self-diagnostic test on my 91 max yesterday. You need to find the passanger side of your ecu (under the dashboard on the floor). You will see a place to put flathead screwdriver. Start the engine and warm it up. As the car is idling turn the screw completely clockwise. The engine will start running funny as LED start blinking right next to where you are using the screwdriver. As soon as you see then blink three times, turn the screw completely counter-clockwise. It will think for a second then start blinking again. The read LED tells you the ten's place and the green tells you the one's place. For example, mine red blinked three times and my green blinked three times = 33. According to the manual, I need a new o2 sensor. once you have read the code turn the screw clockwise again and wait for it to blink for times and then turn it counter-clockwise. FYI, this procedure will also turn off your Engine check light. I didn't need a codereader. So what whould you need and OBD 1 for???
