5 ltr. beater

late last night, I decided to open up the maxima on the highway,and let her fly into triple digits. As I proceded to punch it from 85 and watch the speedometer climb, I noticed that the "P" light was lit up next to the power/confort switch. I said to myself "that's weird, I don't remember putting it in power mode". because i always have it in the middle. as i reached down to put it back to the middle position, in the meantime, the tranny had shifted from 3rd to 4th at around 115, and the "P" light turned itself off; and it turned out that the switch was in the middle position the whole time. Does this mean that our ECU puts the car in power mode, based on how hard/long the gas pedal is pushed?
