found a 9004 hid kit for cheap 6000k worth getting?

hi, i saw a 6000k hid kit for 9004 bulbs thats about to go off for $220 i thought this was a damn good price. i know that they have like 12000k out now, i hear that the maxima headlight assembly is not the best for bright bulbs and tends to blind people so what about a 6000k. also post pictures if anyone has one installed i would like to see what they look like in stock headlight assembly. thanks matt

the issue is the 9004.. it's not the brightness- it's the fact the HID bulbs use the wrong light dispersion pattern for these headlights. instead of focusing light forward, they just spray light everywhere. either do it right by buying different headlights, or don't do it at all, IMO.

120000K is the color temperature, and in that case, it would be dark blue/purple almost. Pretty much useless for driving in the dark, but show cars like them cause they look cool. 5300K is good for night driving, OEM's use about 4400K behind a lense that focuses them.

yeah, not really to worried about that. i have the upgraded harness right now, with 30 amp relays on 90/100 watt bulbs, they are great with the high beams i can see everything on the road and off the road, but i blind everyone. i want a light output close to my high beam or better, cause right now they are really not bright.

then do a BMW light conversion. the night vision is MUCH better, and you're not straining the system with 100w bulbs.

spipedong has HIDs in his stock housings and they are considerably better than mine (XD5 bulbs).

I think that Matt93SE is right, though...they aren't really the best housings for HID application, but it's your car and your money, so have fun with it.

Yes, I've done the 6000K HID kit in stock housings.

I wouldn't really recommend it.

I mean sure, the light's great, and I love the way they turn colors while they warm up, but you sacrifice high beams, and splatter light everywhere.

I have mine aimed pretty low, and I've had people drive my car behind me. It's not terrible, but it's definitely bright.

You know for how crappy the 9004 light is (wife "is you lights even on!?) I have to say, even the hids inside the stock housings is acceptable. I've seen Spipedong90(WTF is that anyway?! heh) and it's not that bad if you aim them down. Certianly not the best solution but it goes to show just how BAD the stock lights are.

LMAO! "Is you lights even on homes?" Typos are great.

Spipedong is a random word generated in a java applet we had one time. It "randomly" came up with stuff like 'spipedong' and 'anuscrap' and so forth.

I'm planning on doing audi/vw projectors in the E36 housings, so we'll see how that turns out...
