So I just got my Magnaflow muffler now...

Hello all
I ordered a Magnaflow 14829 muffler that should come in tomorrow. When I het it installed I would like to get the b-pipe upgraded as well since I have an intake and warpspeed Y, but I have a few questions:

- What size B-pipe should I go with? 2-1/2" or 2-1/4" (what is the stock piping?)
- Any ideas what it would cost to have a muffler shop make one and install with the muffler?
- Should I just go with the warpspeed B-pipe ($150)
- Am I correct in thinking that the stock CATALYTIC CONVERTER will be fine?
- Resonators... should I just have one installed? Are they expensive?

Thanks in advance!
- Gil

stock is barely 2.25" so that would be fine. stock cat is fine if it's in good condition. read the muffler thread to see if a resonter is needed. cost? depends on the shop/quality/rates. I would guess $50-$75.

What you pay for the muffler?
I need to get a new one as well, and the 14829 was the one I want.

I paid $120 shipped from internetautomart

Am I going to get any noticable gains from a larger B-pipe? Or will installing the muffler be the same with the stock B-pipe?

I was thinking of having the muffler installed withthe stock piping and installing the warpspeed B-pipe later when I have the funds. Is this advisable?

Muffler thread?

Thanks again

It is lower on the list of bang-for-your-buck mods. I bought mine because the cat-back that was on my car when I bought it looked like a POS midas job and was almost rusted through in one area. If it had been in good condition, I probably would not have replaced it purely for performance.

I had the muffled installed It is pretty loud. I am not sure if I like it or not. I am going to drive it for a week and then decide weather not not to go with the warpspeed b-pipe. I will take pics and post.

I'll chime in and say DON'T order from bigexhaust.com. That place's customer service is FUBAR. On top of that they charge ridiculously high shipping rates. Internetautomar is 10x a better option and he's a forum member. If you get the Bpipe which I'd suggest, get it from Warpspeed performance with a resonator. Don't get some piece of crap crush bent pipe from a muffler shop that flows worse than factory. And 2.5" is the optimal size for the Maxima. If you want to save some I've got a used Magnaflow Street Series with 4" tip #14822 for $55 shipped.

Can't stand the drone below 2500 RPM? I couldn't stand the drone on mine at first, but I got used to it. Get a resonator installed, that should help cut down on the noise.

I've ordered a few mufflers from Bigexhaust, didn't have to interact with them much so I never had to encounter the customer service part. But the products always came quickly and they have the best prices I could find.
With that being said, I would rather buy from Brian as well. He actually knows Maximas and is a part of our little 3rd gen family

I am already getting used to it. In fact I like the tone. It can only be heard when I turn the music down anyhow and with the weather getting warm that wont be to often.

I am going to order the warpspeed b-pipe with a resonator this week because when I had the muffler installed they put it on a little crooked and it sits at an angle.

The money for a b pipe could be better spent elsewhere. I never really noticed anything, but since mine was basically free, it's on the car.

If the muffler is sitting crooked, have them fix it.

The thing is that they cut the stock b-pipe where as the muffler will sit at an anglr no matter what. On top of that the muffler is pointing slightly to the left. Its not very much, but enough to bother me. I guess I should try and go back to the muffler shop to see if they can fix the way the muffler is set. Silly question - will they have to cut and re-set?
Thanks
