Quick q about auto tranny drain plug removing
I'm gonna change ATF in my car and tranny drain plug just stuck (no surprise!)
I just want to make sure that it has a "normal" "right" thread on it, i.e. I should unscrew it counter-clockwise.
One more thing. 1/2 inch square socket to be used there, right? I tried the one that I have but eventually it just slides out of the slot every time.

I don't remember the exact size of the drain bolt but I know its metric. That's why the socket is slippin' off. I know the bolt is a standard counter-clockwise turn to loosen. Try a light duty breaker bar if you can't get leverage to break it.

You got it wright.
To loose, counter-clock-wise, 1/2 inch wrench head.
But you have to use one hand to hold /push the socket head in there and
use a metal tube or hammer to bang on the handle until loose.
it is pretty tight.
good luck.

It SHOULDN'T be that tight.. too many stupid mechanics crank that thing down when they're putting it in though..
as has been said, use a 1/2" breaker bar and hold it in there while you're turning it.
when you put it back in, you only have to tighten it to like 15-20 ft.lb.. put a dab of RTV sealant on the threads before you put it in to keep it from dripping.
