need to disable key lights
need to disable key lights
Something totally drained my new, 3 month old battery in my '94 SE after it sat idle for two weeks in April, and the only thing I can detect is the green circular light around the ignition key on the steering column and the little light in the driver side door handle keyhole, both of which now stay on 24-7, for some reason. What is best/quickest way to cut these off; I don't need them.
exactly what you said- cut them off.
pull the driver's door panel off and find the wires running to it.. clip them AND INSULATE THEM. otherwise you risk blowing a fuse or starting a fire if they happen to touch something.

key lights and power locks

Thanks -- is it easier to locate the correct wire thru the door or in the steering column by the keyring there; got to think the steering column keyring staying on is the main cause of my battery drain; if that wire goes thru the door would seem like the long way around; realize all I need is a wiring diagram but do not have one and appreciate your response.
By the way, the power locks in all four doors lock immediately when the driver's door shuts, if that's any clue to what's screwed up here.
Duh, but I found that once you get access, you can pull out the two separate plastic circular rings that circle the steering column ignititon and just pull out the green-coated light bulb without cutting any wiring anywhere.
