89 max wont start

Hi, my 89 max SE cut off in the middle of the road. it had slight bucking before it died, and since than it will crank but never turn over. It has spark, and u can smell gas when i try to crank it

i tried replacing the distributor and cap, the coil, the fuses are all fine, and i tried to replace the computer (ECU) but it still wont work. What could possibly be the problem.. could it be a real dead battery? Would that cause it to cut off in the middle of the street?

Thanx in advance, i hope i can get it running

It's not the batter.

Ok... If the timing belt is off or broke.. wont it make some strange flapping noise when i try to crank it?

About the ECU... i got a replacement ECU from somewhere.. could it be that this one is bad too? How can i check to see if its a good or bad ECU..

I appreciate all the help.. i really need my car back
