On a scale of 1 to 10 how hard is it to install a CAI. (example= installing a high flow intake is a 2) Same with an underdrive pulley what what kinda of horse power gains can you get from something like that? Another thing is those little chips that you see on eBay for like $4 that say they will increase performance by 20 horse power is that legit? Whats the scam? here one is http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=42604

CAI=4. It's really not that hard. The main thing you have to concentrate on is when you have to make the hole into the body for the piping. You can use a 3" circular saw bit and then the rest is cake. The chips on ebay are a scam. If you want to see HP get a CAI, UP, Y-pipe and you'll see greater results. The UDP I really couldn't tell you exactly how much HP you'll get but most people who have it say about 6-10HP or somewhere in that range but stay away from that chip!! If you want a chip get the JWT ECU upgrade

Actually since the pipe goes in at an angle, the hole requirement is either:
1) a good amount larger than 3" because the pipe is 3". ie.. 3.5" hole cutter.
2) you somehow cut a oval hole with a plasma cutter. Or hack an oval hole with various other means

Supposedly the UDP frees up 8 WHP, but it can be different on each car. What mods do you have right now? Like they said before, Y-pipe, CAI, UDP are all great mods and are fairly simple to do. Y-pipe you just have to bolt on, CAI requires some cutting but is otherwise easy, and UDP you just need good instructions. As far as how hard these mods are, it all depends on your mechanical ability.

ok i just bought a CAI of eBay i'm not sure how good it'll be it was about $55 with shipping. So im satisfies with that but how much should i expect to pay for a UDP and/or Y pipe and what about headers im definatly going to do a Y pipe but i want to do headers too i know pacesetter is crap but who else makes them? What about dual exhaust i love the way it looks but i havent seen it yet. does anyone have pics? Or know where i could get this setup? Thanks for the advice on the Speed Chip!

Daggett has a 92 SE (VE engine) so he can't use the headers from your VG.
My best mod is probably my y-pipe. I had noticeable gains with it and it is pretty straightforward to install. It also seemed to help my mpg.
Dual exhaust isn't necessary, it is primarily just for cosmetic purposes. You would be better served with a y-pipe and a cat-back made of 2.5 inch piping and a free flowing muffler of your choice.

Red92MaxSE, thanks for the advice! i do plan on doin the Y-pipe install and i probably could do the 2.5'' free flowin cat back but do they have headers for my engine? or would that not help out at all if i have a Y-pipe? Another thing is, how much chould i expect to pay for a UDP?

otto racing has one and any FSTB for the 00-03 Maximas will fit. Some of them don't clear the air conditioning hose on the passenger side, but you just move it down about 1/2 inch and it's OK. Mine is like that and hasn't created any problems in over a year of use.
You can look at Page 2 of my cardomain (www below my sig)
They haven't made decent headers for the VE yet (that I can recall) and the ones are there are designed pretty well. The biggest flaw in the exhaust flow is the stock y-pipe, really.
I think the UDP will run around $100 + shipping. You will also need new belts, since this changes the diameter of the pulley. Look in the stickies, I know there are lists of belts in there somewhere.
