tornado air
Hey...I'm not sure if this thing has ever been discussed in here before but I was thinkin about gettin it. My cousin was tellin me about it and he said a guy he knows in the army is startin to put it on all the humvee's he works on. It's supposed to boost gas mileage big time, but I'm not sure if it's one of those things that's just too good to be true. I dont know...check it out here http://www.tornadoair.com/index.php. Lata

I saw an infomercial for that on TV...and I thought...it's such a little piece, if it's so damn helpful to economy/power...why don't all the major manufacturers start putting little "tornado airs" in their intakes.
Definitley looks like a scam of some sort. It would be interesting if you wanted to purchase one and trial it though. I might be wrong, but I doubt it.

You're right, this thing is a total scam! I thought the same myself, the engineers at car companies are not stupid. Tthey managed to develop the whole engine and rest of the car around it, so I think if they could get a slight increase in performance and fuel economy from a piece of aluminum cut into a turbine fan shape, they might make the cars like that from the factory. 470 is an outrade, I bet the thing costs about 10 cents to make.
Granted, one could make the same argument about K&N air filters, as they're supposed to flow slightly more air, and reduce buffeting, however paper filters are cheap, and easy to replace, therefore they work better for mechanics doing routine maintainence. You can clean and regap spark plugs pretty easily too, but when's the last time your mechanic did that vs. replacing them...the labour would cost more than it's worth.

I've heard that they do work on some older vehicles, but the newer ones are designed well so they may even give you worse gas mileage. I wouldn't waste money on it, but if you want to be the first one to buy it and tell us the results, go ahead.

MrGonw I'll BUY 4!
The tornado does have increase on carberated v8's. Just because the flows straight down into the cylinders. I know for vg's there's a awkward path for the air to travel into the cylinders.

I don't understand the concept of spinning air into your engine. I don't see no type of compressing going on so air intake might be decreased due to more obsticles that have to be overcome by this tornado air.
