Make sure to get the MSD high performance plug wires for your 1992 SE. There are turbo types that I've heard work well.

Might as well add a 6AL, Blaster coil, and billet distributer too.

@swowlinc...

I think for the VE, platinum plugs are suggested (hopefully someone will validate that for you).

FNG is talking about an MSD Ignition system. the MSD 6AL is the ignition control device, the MSD Blaster is the ignition coil (to replace the stock one) and the billet distributor is a replacement/addtion to your distributor (if you have one...) I'm not sure about how the VE engines work, but I do know that they don't have spark plug wires, so someone with the knowledge, please spread some my brotha's way, if you don't mind...

Not pretending to be an expert, just trying to help a brotha out!

1. only get the AL if you dont have a rev limiter, or just get the 6A and never have a rev limiter and be dumb like me.
2. stop making fun of my other car

(I still need to show Jeffy the other car someday heehheehhehe)

Thats all?? Which filters should I change then?? Although the car runs very well, it's at 110,000 miles. Ive changed the belts and kept the oil changed and mixed with Lucas oil stabilizer. Ive also poured Seafoam in the crankcase and gas tank. What about transmission fluid and/or filter?

@swowlinc...

Do you always use the Lucas Oil Stabilizer? I heard from my oil change spot that all the commercial truck drivers use the stuff in their rigs when they get the oil changed, and it works really well. I've only used it once, and forgot to use it at my last oil change.

I use it EVERY oil change with castrol gtx. And pour a little gas tank bottle in the gas tank sometimes. The stuff really clings to the gears,supposedly protecting them. Theres a demonstration machine in many advanced auto parts stores so you can see what it really does, even though they use plastic gears. Makes me feel better as I push the car quite often.

@ Kyle,

There are no plugwires, distributer etc. There is an individual coil pack on each sparkplug that fires that particular cylinder. There are also sensors on the crankshaft and camshaft that tell the ECU what positions they are in relation to each other, so it can fire the right plug at the right time. Hope that helps.

Do you have an auto or 5spd? If auto I'd do a flush + change the filter, and add a cooler while your at it lol. If 5spd, might as well change the gear oil. I like to use Amsoil, but alot of guy's use Redline.

The only thing I would put in my engine is Marvel Mystery Oil and Seafoam.
For the filters and stuff, Fuel Filter, PCV, check the air filter, I'm sure I'm forgetting something but meh.

Once I finish up working on Chris's car I'm heading out to the Junkyard to find a T-56 for it. Will be strange going from 3spd to 6spd . If everything goes as planned it should be a 347ci with a T-trim on it or possiable a Kennebell . I need to make a Cardomain for it with all the work I'll be doing soon lol. sry for ot.

3. drain it
4. put drain bolt back in
5. fill

Fill plug = front right of tranny. you use a 1/2" drive rachet or breaker bar to loosen/tighten it.

Amsoil, online venders, parts stores, heck i think internetautomar even sells it. I bought mine from GiJoes.

it must be nice to not have to change plug wires...

$72 bucks for my NGK silicone wires plus side is that they are RICER BLUE!!! w00 w00!

make sure you get a can a vaccum and hook it up to the drain plug on the tranny... makes draining a whole lot easier. check your muffler bearings and make sure that their clearances are all good (gotta use Plastigauge for that).

oh, and find some cans of compression... i hear it *really* helps out with the glow plugs and apex seals!
