The concept looks great. I personally love trying this sort of thing and can really appreciate the time and effort you must have put into that peice so far. I do, however, wonder if the finished product will look finished - if you know what I mean? (not trying to be mean, simply curious). Keep us posted tho - for sure!

i had an idea kind of like that. my idea has more of an angular "eye lid" over the headlights to make it more skyline-ish. i haven't gotten around to ever making it but i broke my grill recently so it might happen pretty soon.

did you use fiber glass to do it all?? after learning more about laying carbon fiber i'm thinking about doing mine with some carbon fiber.

I know what you mean ... I have no idea how "clean" it’s going to look like but this is just for fun - I like process itself. My maxima is clearly not a show car but my winter car. And maxima's grill is just one of the projects I'm working on right now. Anyway ... I'll do my best

Later on, if anybody interested, I'll take measurements.

I didn't use fiber glass at all yet - metal only.
But inserts will be made of it for sure (there is no way I can make "lips" from metal without leaving "waves"). Basically 3-4 layers at front 2-3 layers at the back with aluminum mesh sandwiched in the middle. That's an idea.

Steve -

I don't know anybody with a E30's conversion but everything is possible in theory.

Talking of the headlights - I bought my set on ebay for $35 plus $10 S&H (E36; 1996). Plus cost of bulbs x4 and harness x4 (which you can pick up at junk yard). So total of $50 for headlights and harness.

Time spent: 2h in polishing of headlights' lenses and 8h to do conversion itself.

Hope this helps.

Alex, I remember when you first were talking about this idea - and it's looking good, thus far. I, for one, would be interested in making/fabricating some kind of eyebrows for my lights.
