check the battery and cables. often if you kill a fusible link it'll have problems like this. do the interior lights and dash stuff work when the car is not running and the key in "on" ?

If not, then it's definitely a fusible link.

you may need a new starter. mine used to crank over really hard when i got the car.. I thought it was just the higher compression VE over my old VG (starters are the same for both).. then when I heard a friend's VE crank one time, I knew I had a problem. optima red top didn't solve it. new starter did.

... everything works fine, what is a fuseable link, exactly? i thought it was just a bigger part of a wire to handle more power, but i really dont know. where could i check it?

the batt. is 3 years old... i didnt check that cuz i didnt think it could be a problem... but i guess i better go back and start from scratch...

any more info would be great, thanx guys

do this...next time it's hard to start...get another car to jump it and see if it starts up better. if yes then you need a new battery.

i got some 6 guage wire from work and im going to hook it up directly, from the batt. to starter, and see if that works.. is this safe?

danny, can a batt do that? like..... be fully charged and working one sec. and then crap out for a bit then come back to normal?

thanx guys

depends on temp. i mean it can well be wiring that's weak or bad...but batteries can be a PITA at times also. if it's a maintenace battery it can be strong and then weak due to low water level. also your alternator might play a role. it might charge sometimes and not charge other times...(slow traffic/hwy driving). are you running a UDP? that can trigger a low battery issue there.

i wouldn't go from starter to battery. too much other wiring around there that can spark. just check around the wiring and terminals are make sure they car clean. you might just have a loose battery terminal or something.

that's why i recommend jumpstarting when you can't start it. people usually have jumper cables and they can always bug their neighbors for the jump start..so it's easy to figure out right there.

thanx for the quick reply

-my terminals are super clean (one has a small crack but there is a lot of metal on metal)
-on the neg. terminal there was always some acid build up
and my batterie is non maintenace what do u mean to many things that can spark... i thought it would be a good way to check and see if the wire running the batt is still good...
... i dunno, its really frustrating, i can't move from my house on my own cuz my car may not start up when im out...

, if anyone as anymore ideas plz post

Take it to a mechanic and get the battery/alternator checked/load tested vs just guessing.

If your terminal has a crack in it, then it's probably not tight enough. If you can move it by hand, then it won't properly connect. it will act like it's connected- the clock, lights, radio, etc will work. But as soon as you start to draw 100A+ to the starter, the terminal won't pass enough current through and it acts like a dead battery.

replace the battery terminals.

hey, still no luck, im going to get the batt/ alt. stress tested today, and im going to try and replace the neg terminal line.

There is now a Buzzing sound comming from the engine bay... its not comming from the starter... i cant tell if its from the block itself or someplace under the MAF

- i put everything on in my car... EVERYTHING! (even held down the cig. lighter, at that time the radio kept reseting itself....)

anything will be helpfull thanx
