What does a tranny flush on an automatic do?
I have been thinking about getting one done.
I have noticed that my tranny seems to get hot during city driving with all the stop and start driving. First gear seems to rev a little higher before change when tranny is hot. I have a cooler installed and does work well when it gets enough cool air runing through it again once Im cruising along without to many stop and starts. Will this tranny flush thing most likely fix this?? Other then that the tranny is good. Oh also when the tranny is hot I have noticed that when the torque converter engauges at 80kph (52mph???) it some times may jump out then engauge again when Im slightly putting my foot down to keep speed up.
So is a tranny flush the go?? I have the tranny serviced about 10,000kms ago. Any suggestions would be great thankyou for your time.

Conventional transmission fluid, like motor oil, will thin out at high temperatures. This will cause the line pressure to drop, and shifting will be slower. I would suggest getting the transmission refilled with synthetic ATF. Its viscosity is much more stable and won't oxidize at high temperatures. If you've had your transmission rebuilt, I would bypass the radiator heat exchanger, and only use the external cooler.

Does Manual Tansmission needs flushed?

I'd read that auto tranny can hold 10 quarts. But once can only change about 5 quarts at a time in a drain and refill. This is due to some of the fluid are kept in the torque convertor, unless you go for a tranny flush.

Is this the same case with manual? I'd read that manual doesn't required a flush. All it needs is a drain and refill and all 5 quarts of it can be drain and replaced.

Can anyone confirm this?
By the way, the above note is taken from 4th gen forum. I have the link to prove it.

Thanks.
