Oh Snap! Broke off my rear swaybar!

On the way home from Ozzfest last week (it was great, I can almost hear again now) I noticed a clunking sound from the abck of my car over rough road. I thought it could be something in the trunk, but it wasnt. I looked under when I got home, and the driver side rear sway bar brushing ame out from the sway bar. I think it must have happened when I ran over a peice of truck tire on the highway. I tried to avoid it but couldnt get out of the lane intime.

Is this a really critical part? I've been driving without it for a week and haven't noticed any real differance, but I havnt really pushed it in any corners. How much is a new brushing? The end of the bar is about an inch away from where it was when it was connected. Is the bar bent/junk now?

Edit: To clarify, The brushing is still in place, the sway bar disconnected from it

well...technically it isn't that safe but you could make due like this for a while i guess. personally i'd replace the link asap because you're car will tilt like a bish around corners.
the sway bar endlinks are only about 15.00 from nissan i believe.

Just buy matt's and you don't have to worry about them anymore.

hahahahahahhahahahhaa I've never seen that happen.

Pretty sure your gonna need a new sway bar, unless you can get that bushing back in and have it stay there.

Another option is to buy an aftermarket bar or even a Stock RSB from a SE maxima, they would all be an improvement over the GXE bar.

WTF?! Sweeeeet!

umm, I might have one around here somewhere.. if you want it, PM me and I'll look tomorrow.

otherwise, any SE bar will work. the GXE will fit as well, but the SE is a bit stiffer. front bars are the same for SE/GXE, but the rears are different.

WOW!! The entire bushing came out of the friggin' bar !! Well you can take it off, get a new bushing, and have it pressed into the bar (what I did when mines came off) or just get an addco bar, matt's sway bar links and call it a day. Good luck

My friend has a '93 SE that hasn't had a swaybar on it for a long time. He took an offramp at about 55 mph. It was marked for 35.

You will feel a slight difference with no sway bar if you put weight in the back. It actually feels like the tires are wobbly in the back. Not a good feeling riding down the Garden State parkway and you feel the back of your car wanting to break loose and fishtail.

Brad92SE is selling an Addco in the 3rd gen for sale section.
