My Car Has The Shakes.

My car shakes violently around 65 70 mph. The shaking is a up and down motion as apposed to side to side. i have had my car lowered for about a year now and havnt changed the struts. Im wondering bad struts could make my car shake this bad or is it something else? maybe really unbalanced tires? thanks for the help. o yeah does anyone know how to fix a bad left front wheel sensor circuit? thanx

Sounds to me like a buckled wheel, or maybe a bulge in a tire? I'd jack the car up and spin each wheel by hand and look for anything out of the ordinary. My mates car had a bulge in a tire last week, and it shook extremely violently.

I'd doubt it'll be the struts though.

Sorry, not sure about the wheel sensor...

could be one of many things.

strut mounts, control arm bushings, tie rod end, ball joint, tire balance, bent wheel, damaged tire, bad strut, bad axle...

the up/down thing is *usually* a wheel or tire issue. check for bulges in the sidewall or other damage. even a large chunk of mud or axle grease blobbed in the wheel can cause stuff like that.

Could there be water in the tire? I had the same symptoms with my car in the spring... I thought I had a bad tire but when I got new tires(was in need of them) it turned out to be a pool of water in the tire... don't ask how it got in there because I'm not sure my self..

i'd doubt water would cause too much of a problem - especially a violent shaking.

As a random aside: we half fill the tires on our tractors with water to give them a bit of weight, and although they only do about 30mph, doesn't seem to bother them! hehe

The tire was not filled totally with water.. like say a tractor tire(we fill ours with windshield wiper fluid.. cuz its cheap and doesn't freeze.. and some other reason but that is not comming ot mind now) it just had water in the bottom.. like an inch or so.. and the rest was air. The tire would not vibrate too harshly until you got up above 60-65.. then, since it was on the front, it would vibrate violently up and down and make the steering wheel jerk back and fourth a little... so I guess it was good since it kept me at/ under the speed limit..
