Please help new guy out with motor swap!

Hey guys, im new here and I have a question about a motor swap. I have looked all over to try and find my answer but I cannot, but I know some one has asked it before...so sorry to bother ya'll again. But I have a 94 GXE max. I recently decided i wanted to hook it up and make it faster. The motor is running good but its 200,000+ miles. Is it possible to do a SE motor swap into it? and ive heard that my max and the 300zs have the same motor, can I swap any of those into it? How about a turbo z motor? If not, can I supercharge the SE motor? Please help.

since the GXE has the VG motor, it'll be easier to replace it with another VG motor. Yes the 300z has the same motor we do, but no the turbo version will not work, mainly because of space issues and exhaust manifold setup. I'm sure some people have swapped out to the VE motor. But I believe it requires alot of work.

unless you are an outstanding mechanic, you should just stick to swapping in the same engine you have now. That is a difficult enough as it is.

To put in an 92-94 SE (VE30DE) engine into a GXE requires a TON of work. You need to swap out all of the wiring, ECU and I believe even the motor mounts are different. You would also need to source this stuff, which goes beyond just finding an engine.

There are no kits of any kind for forced air induction (supercharger, turbo) on any 3rd gen engine. You have to fabricate everything yourself and figure out a plan for everything from fuel management to installing piping for intercoolers and piping for the turbo. The guys on this board with turbo'd cars have spent months and months trying to get everything together and figuring out all of the little details about such a tough task.

In other words, forget it. Just find another VG30E and swap it in. If you want to go faster, save your pennies and keep collecting aluminum cans until you scrounge up enough money to buy yourself a car that was designed to be faster than your current car (z32, RX7, Supra, Viper, IROC Camaro, etc.). OR, you could go to trade school and learn how to be a mechanic, that way you wouldn't have to ask questions about stuff that is way beyond changing spark plugs and painting brake calipers.

You CAN swap in an early 86-89 or so single turbo SOHC motor not the later DOHC or twin turbo motors.
Look up MTCOOKSON's cardomain page for better info.
or check the stickies at Max-World in their 3rd gen section. I linked his cardomain there

the z31 engine (vg30et) can be swapped in but i believe one of the engine mounts are different and you either have to fabricate your engine mount or relocate something so that the engine will mount on properly. also with swapping the engine mounts, you will be required to replace a few other parts. as internetautomart said, mtcookson has done this swap. http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/177457/8 is his cardomain with the writeup/faq/q&a page. also the vg30et engine came from z31 which is 87-89 as mtcookson sstates on his site.
