Bad fuel injectors worse when warm?

Ok when my car warms up it has some annoying sputtering and power loss, and vibrating. Now I know I have two injectors with high resistance that I think is causing these things, but the car runs pretty good cold... only thing I notice while cold is a vibration at idle... so now I'm wondering if I might need a new O2 sensor on top of the injectors? Someone told me that bad injectors mostly cause warm problems and not cold problems, is that true, and why is that?

Thing is I want my power back, but if the injectors can wait I'd love to just replace the O2 instead to get some of it back because im strapped for cash right now. But I dont wanna waste money on an O2 i dont need. I have NO idea when my O2 was replaced, if ever... my car has 130,000 miles and i got it at 120,000. The O2 sensor seems to pass the test in the FSM.

so is it true that injectors get worse when warm? Or could my O2 be playing into that?

it's very possible that the injectors go dead when they get warm, which would account for your problems.

Injectors can defiantely get worse when warm. I had a similar problem a while back, on some warm starts an injector (#5) would not fire at all, so I would run on 5 cylinders for about a minute before it kicked back in. All of my cold starts were fine.

thx, I think I'll just replace the injectors since the O2 did pass the FSM test, and I know for a fact that the injectors are at least going bad. I just wanted to hear from you guys that they could get work ok while cold cause I can do the injectors or the O2 right now but not both =(

You might want to contact Red92MaxSe. Since I just did a JDM VE swap on his, he has a full set of extra VE injectors that we would probably sell cheap I guess

By taking it to someone that does diagnostics

be prepared to pay $80 for a diagnostic check. I have a similiar problem with the car running sluggish when warm.

I did replace my fuel injectors, O2 sensor and all other sensors.

Try replacing your spark plugs to normal NGKs, thats whats next on my list.

I thought it was just the older design that had the issues. Did you have to replace one of the updated ones?

I've never had a problem. I've heard of a few guys having problems though. I believe we have the same injectors as the 4-5gens? And they rarely have problems

5 were of the older design, then I got smart and replaced it with 2 brand new ones (new design)

they are interchangable, but I believe the 4th gen got the updated design rather than us.

Can you somehow provide pics? Or explain the updated design changes?

the simple description is that the fuel inlet was moved down about 1/4" or so.

thumpyls,
i believe the reading needs to be around 12-14 ohms. if it's anything more than 14ohms or less than 12ohms it's a good sign that the particular injctor being tested is already nuked or on its way out.

brian,
whoa...you've replaced more injectors on your VE than I've replaced on my VG. that's odd because i don't remember ever seeing people posting about injector issues with VEs, just VGs.

its 11-14, like 4 of my 6 injectors are at 11.4 or so. I dunno about VEs in general but mine i know already had two fuel injectors replaced before i bought it, and now 2 more have high *** resistance.

it is actually unusual, but the car had 3 bad when bought it. I made the mistake of using rebuilts on it.

its acually 10 to 14 ohms

these are pic of the 2 different injectors in my old engine

i had 2 that looked like this and they were both fine

the other 4 looked like this and 2 of them were going bad so i would say this is the old design

The new one I bought had the same design as the second pic, and so did my old ones. The only difference that I noticed was the different locations of the screen where fuel goes into.
