I haven't actually pulled the heater core out, but i gutted my car and took the glove box out and it looks real simple if you take the glove box out and all of the trim around it, but that's just from looking at it.

1) Take everything out from the dash area except the wiring harness
2) Remove/replace heator core
3) Put everything back.

Basicly that's it. Dealer will charge you close to $900 but the part only costs $150-ish.

That's how much labor is involved. I've done it twice. Wouldn't wish it on anyone. Schedule a whole weekend.

check out this website, it has info on replacing the heater core (aka heater radiator)

it's for the UK maxima and should be very similar

I did mine at the end of 2003 and that job was the worst thing I have had to do along with insulating a whole house. Basically you have to get everything off (dash etc.) and get all the way down to the firewall and play around with it down there. It took a bunch of guys including MrGone and Jeff92se 10 hours to get it out so all I can say is you're in for a rough job.........

.......Least you'll have heat then. I didn't have heat through the dead of winter so think about how cold it is and needing during that time

Yup, when I did mine it was 10 hours in total. The entire dash has to come out.

Not in a Maxima, but in my cousin's 88 Grand Marquis we spent an entire weekend from Friday night to Sunday morning replacing the heater core. Here in Florida, it's MUCH easier to just bypass the heater core (run the heater lines together...it will take a little creativity, but it's a lot easier than taking the heater core apart) But we were driving back up to Upstate NY (home state) for winter break, so having heat was sort of a neccessity.

I've never been so frustrated in my life.
