Need a knock sensor...

Can someone please tell me where's the best place to get a new knock (detonation) sensor? I can get one through Advance Auto for $115.00. I was just hoping someone knew of a better rate....Thanks

In the group deals section, there is a thread about a knock sensor group deal offered by JRNissanParts and within that people have said that you can get brand new ones on Ebay for less than $100 shipped. Check it out.

It's mostly a VE problem. Causes hesitation and 'heat soak' due to the knock sensor (or subharness) going bad and forcing the ECU to pull back timing heavily.

Yea it's a common VE problem. Since you have to take so much stuff to get to it I suggest you use OEM parts. You need to order some intake manifold gaskets, the knock sensor and make sure to order the harness and make sure they send you the correct harness for the car, don't let no mechanic splice the harness, I say that because the harness a special cover that doesn't allow for frequency to mess it up with other frequencies, its a very delicate sensor. Plus it would suck to do all that work and because someone does a half a$$ job the car doesn't feel better or acts the same way. Good luck with the knock sensor replacement. www.courtesyparts.com is a good source for these parts also.

Can you expand on that? A JWT ecu eliminated the ks?

Stand alone systems are the engine managemets that I have seen remove factory sensors, I don't see how JWT would remove the function of the knock sensor.

I DON`T HAVE ELECTRONIC ENGEN. LIKE YOU ALL I KNOW IS THAT AFTER THE REPROGRAM OF THE ECU, I WAS TOLD THAT THE NEW PROGRAM WILL ELIMINATE THE KS ALONG WITH OTHER SENSORS, B/S WEN THE MAF SENSOR REGISTERS BOOST FROM THE TURBO IT AUTOMATICLY RETARD THE TIMING, OR EVENBETTER CALL THEM AND ASKED IF IS POSIBLE WITH THE 370cc AND TURBO PROGRAM.

Okay, not using a KS on a boosted engine is a big risk imho. Still don't know what you are referring to about "eliminating sensors". I know the JWT boost programs alter fuel and ign maps. But it still uses all the factory sensors.

What's up with the caps anyway?

Really have no urge to call. If you want to explain fine. I don't see the particular differences inbetween me calling and you posting. If you really don't want to get into an explaination fine. Don't quite understand how this could be childish. Just do your best here.

what kind of keyboard do you have, because I cant understand jack captian.

Seriously, the reasoning in reference to the JWT sucks. It would be extremely dangerous for them to eliminate the KS. Seeing as back when Davebond007 had a KS resistor in his car then we advanced his timing, we couldnt even go above 17* before it would ping, on 92 octane gas.

knock sensor, Napa sells them too (they are the exact same as the OEM KS, nissan hamburger and all).

Well I would love to answer the question about him being turbo but he can only do that by providing pictures or something. Maybe he'll say we have to call JWT to get permission to see pictures

Man, you are sure defensive about this topic.

It sounds like all you know is what the mechanic told you that installed your ECU. None of the sensors on you car are "unnecessary" since they can dramatically effect how your car works.

Jeff was just asking a question, one for which he probably already knows the answer. You aren't the only member of this board with a JWT ECU and are also not the only one with a turbo on your car either. You are the first one to claim your JWT ECU bypasses all of your sensors, however.

Why don't you just calm down, stop thinking members of the board are out to get you, and just answer the questions honestly. None of us care what you think. We do care about what we can learn from someone who allegedly has a turbo VE with a JWT ECU. If you don't know something, say "I don't know," or "I am not sure."

just randomly reading...came across this thread. for what its worth, yea espimax has a RIDICULOUS turbo'd 3rd gen. as far as if hes running a knock sensor, i couldn't tell you that. i have a couple pics of his car (one of them might show a (lack of) knock sensor) but i have no way of posting them, nor do I know enough about engines to say the picture i have is of a knock sensor or not.

Knock sensor is located around the middle of the engine, can't be seen unless you take out the intake manifold. If you're not going to post or are not capable of uploading pictures why even mention it.
