proud owner of triplets

Now the proud owner of THREE 3rd gen SE's. Picked up an Aztec Red 92 SE last night in Tulsa. It has a gold Nissan emblem on the front grille. Does that mean limited? Nothing seems different other than that. They didn't advertize it as limited. Sure was fun driving it home.

congrats...

The gold emblem was done aftermarket. That was the "thing" a few years back (along with the rag top look).

I knew someone that had a gold plater and he made good money with it from all the mini trucks and cars that came by to get ther grilles, emblems or whatever gold plated.

My 21 year old daughter drives the Black 92SE. My 18 year old daughter drives the Black Emerald 93 SE and the newest addition is for my wife and I. The good thing is most of the parts will be the same.

It's funny, the only one with VTC clicking is the Black 92 with 142 K. The 93 with 158K purrs like a kitten. I'm gonna buy filters by the case. What's a 55-gal drum of Mobil-1 cost?

The black 92 bought a year ago cost $2800 from an individual, 135K. The black emerald 93 bought a couple months ago from an couple $3200, 158K (the guy thought this was his baby, man did he take care of it), and the Aztec Red 92 I just bought from a dealer was $4100. 101K. It has the best body and paint and runs great.

My inlaws owned an 87 maxima and then a 95 maxima and loved them and I got to drive them occasionally. When it was time to replace my eldest's 85 celica I specifically looked for a maxima. Found a nice looking one but it had some problems. I had so much fun driving it while fixing it's many little problems I came to love this car. Joined the org, bought the second one that was taken care of and then really became obsessed. I could only drive the kids cars when I serviced them. That wasn't near enough time behind the wheel. Started thinking how neat it would be if I could get my wife one so I could drive it whenever and cut down how much we drive my 01' Tundra everywhere. (16-17 MPG) With what I do I have to have a truck. So that's where it is--I'm officially a maxima maniac!!!
SO WHEN AM I NOT A FREAKING NEWBIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I beat on mine so hard, I feel bad giving it a feminine name... it'd be like abusing my wife if I did that.... so it's just the POS... I dont' feel bad taking a POS to the track and banging it off the rev limiter in 3rd gen several times a lap for an entire day.

bhunter.. heres the magical question - are any of them 5sp?

matt is your drivetrain bulletproof or something? makes me wonder again how my motor "got tired" and the tranny blew under semi-spirited driving

Sadly, no, none of them are 5 speed. The primary driver on each car is uhh-not proficient at stick shifting. My wife can drive a stick but she preferred the auto. No names for them either. Once the kids are out of college and I don't have to take care of thing$ any more maybe I'll get a 5 speed toy for myself. I do plan to mod my wife's a little as time goes by.

Maximan, it's not bulletproof, but it's sure holding up to a lot of abuse. I've replaced three clutches and the bearings in the tranny twice already (in the 60k miles I've owned it), but that's all I've really had to do to it. Haven't cracked a bolt on the valve covers yet except to replace the front one for one that looked new.

and yeah.. I beat the fire out of it every chance I can get!
