arrghhhhh friggin' tires.....
well yesterday i was driving down i-70 at about 75mph to take my friend to work and my friggin tire blew, well actually it didn't blow but the tread at steel underneath (they were radials) like peeled off and started smacking the hell outta my back right fender. so now i'm in the hole for 3 bfg tires ($250). u know it really sucks when u already know where ur next pay check is going!
How old was the tire? usually blowouts like that are covered under some type of warranty, because that's NOT caused by just running over a rock or nail. something else had to do that- usually because a tire is defective.. give the tire shop a call and don't let them just blow you off.
good luck.
good luck.
Matt93GXE is pretty much right, although this type of failure could possibly be caused by corrosion in the belts due to a previous puncture. If there are no nails or plugs (repairs) in the tire, it was most likely defective. The tire's age can be found in the DOT code, which is about 12 characters long, down near the bead. The last 3 digits represent the week and year of production (ex. 159 = 15th week of 1999). For extra protection, stick with V-speed rated tires having nylon overlay over the steel belts. The overlay is intended to prevent just this type of failure.
Good luck!
Good luck!
thanks guys. oh u must have misunderstood me. i found that one of my OTHER tires had a screw in it not the one that fugged up on me. the tires were pretty old don't know exactly how old though because my uncle put them on a long time before he gave me the car. those tires sucked anyways. these bfgs r awesome though. i never relized how much of a difference u can feel with good tires. now my car's a regular road hugger!lol... thanks a lot though
