Idle shmidle??

When i start my car cold i get a high idle for a while (proly 5 min) it idles at like 1500(starts at 1500 slowly lowers) but if i put it into anything other than park it drops to a normal 750.

Any suggestions?

is this always?
or did it start recently?
a high initial idle is not too unusual on cars, heck my brothers old cavalier would do 30+ at idle on cold mornings.

thats how its supposed to work...it does that on all automatic cars. When the cars is not warm it has a higher idle. When you put it into drive, reverse, etc, it always go down to the normal idle. I guess thats like the drive speed

Will probably happen more as the weather gets colder. You will also see "I smell gas in the car when I start it" threads right about now

Yeah, that one, and the ones about "my car is warm in city driving, but no heat on the highway..." Maybe we should make a calendar sticky that lists the things to check BEFORE it gets to be -10....

Nice looking Max, BTW Harvs94...
