anyone interested in precut E36 lights?

I have one pair that are made to fit into the Maxima, they have angel eyes, and are wired, the low beam pod was cut out of both to house my projector conversion...if anybody is interensted I could put it up. I just watned to test and see what people thought.

Well Chris, the only thing that has to be done to the e36's themselves are having the stock BMW mounting tabs shaved...so you would still have to do all of the engine bay cutting yourself, and it sounds like this guy's are a little chopped up...def get some pics up!

You'll still need to cut out part of your own headlight bracket and radiator support to fit them most likely. Unless he seriously modified these and changed the depth of them completely, then you'll still have some work to do.

These are seriously modified. But, you are correct, there is work to be done. It's meant for somebody who wants to have something a little different.

These E36 lights use the E36 brackets, they bolt into the car. You will have to hammer the radiator support a little. You do not have to use your own headlight.

THERE IS NO LOW BEAM, you need to add one yourself (XENON PROJECTOR conversion )

The Angel Eyes are the Jim Powell brand lights, if you do research he pioneered them for the aftermarket guys.

The front plastic of the E36 lights have been CUT OFF, they haev been replaced with the curved, clear "rock guard". This was done so the lights look FLUSH and STOCK. E36's normally stick out because they're angular

There is a makeshift "eyelid" to cover the top part of the lights too, as seen in the pics.

Things YOU must do:
-complete the waterproofing
-add low beams
-connect the +/- however you want for the angel eyes
-wire new 9005/9006 connectors (or 9005 & some conversion for your low beam)

pics comin!

How are you going to get the projectors or whatnot to mount onto the lowbeams?

You want to show them one/two of your pics James??

I had a CD painted black, it was siliconed into place. The bi-xenon assemb was mounted through the hole that was dremeled. There are attachment points you can use on the projector and fab a bracket to mount them. That's what I did. Until I sold my car, then I took out the entire xenon kit.

it's the same one I used, but his is much cleaner

it's just a plastic rock guard that you replace the stock e36 lights with.

You did these lights or did someone else? You said you removed the lights. So are they available?

Hey James, I think you could make more money selling those lights than you do selling the speaker pods...

TripleG: I fabricated the bottom, sides, and part of the top of the enclosure from some ABS plastic I had left over from my car modeling days. And like others have said the outer clear plastic is the clear Wade rock-guard cover thingy that I hacked up. I basically did what awsm66 and Craig did with their covers, but I took it a step (an extremely long one lol) further and wanted to fully enclose them and make the whole setup more tangible

Getting them fully waterproofed was a big-time PITA, and everytime I thought I was finished I still would discover leaks. Eventually though I finally got them completely uber-sealed and I can totally submerge them in water with no seepage at all

I also modified the sides of my grille, so that the lights lined up better with the grille and so that I didnt have that grille crooked/popped-up problem that everyone seems to have (and dont even seem to notice). I narrowed my grille slightly width wise, with most of it coming off the top (near the hood) sides of the grille

I should hope so considering I dont make much on speaker mounts. In a 'good' month I sell maybe 2-3 pair.. then go months at a time in between 'sales'

Anywho, mine took me almost a full month of work. I couldnt do just the lenses for people because then when they get the headlights lined up the lenses might not be lined up with the car, and vice versa. I would basically have to do the WHOLE setup on my car (grille, BMW housings mounted to modified Maxima brackets, line them up, aim them, and then still enclose them), and then sell that whole set-up as a bolt-on item to ensure proper fitment/looks/etc. Given that, the amount of money it would take to make it even worth my month-long effort would probably be significantly more than anyone would be realistically willing to pay for lights.

Also, the fact that I now live on campus also virtually makes it impossible for me to do that sort of work even if I wanted to. I'd much rather just inherit a large sum of money so that I can drop out of college and be a bum for the rest of my life

Anyone I know?

Anyway, you were offering the kit for more than it is new so I'll have to decline for now I guess.

Jer... I've got an offer for you. PM me, and I'll throw it out your way. I think they'd be interesting for a winter project to go along with my multitude of other projects. LMK if they're still available.
