Vibration on steering wheel

Hi. Recently I had a flat tire, I replace it and all and from there the problems started: First a strange sound from the bottom of the car, recently fixed by pulling out a plastic thing over the axis but now the problem is worse, the steering wheel started to vibrate and when i turn left a noise come from the left side of the car on the driver (here is where the flat tire was). I don't know what to do. Thanks.

It could be a number of things.

1) Your rim is bent, maybe it is not too bad re-balancing could cure the problem.

2) When you had the flat maybe you tore you rack and pinion boot/CV boot and the grease is all gone.

Those are just things off the top of my head. Good luck and I sure hope that it fixes your problem.

one more thing did you use the donut for a short while before you replaced the tire and if so did it vibrate then if so then it isnt your rim it is something else

I used the spare tire (donut??) but it was fine, only after installing the other tire then the problems started.

if you replaced the tire with another one, maybe the tire size is not the same

If you did not have a vibration before you got the flat and now you do, chances are the tire shop either did not balance the tire properly or not at all. I would take it back to them.

Most likely, your tire is out of balance. Did they give you a totally new tire, or just repair the old one? Either way, something is probably out of balance -- the tire or the rim was damaged.

My steering wheel shakes a little and I believe my rotors are warped. I don't know if this could be related or not to your problem, but I thought I'd throw it out there.

it's either that at least one of your wheels isn't balanced, or is bent. I've been in both situations.

Any way to tell if your wheels are unbalanced without taking it to a shop? I recently rotated the tires last month & a few days ago, the car felt wavey when going in slow traffic on the highway. The wheels were on the rear of the car since I bought it in December 2001 & were never rotated forward until August 2004 so I'm wondering if it's a balancing issue after all the potholes I take on in NYC.
