Trunk not opening

Well tonight, I started to play around that little lever in the trunk, now it no longer opens and the key will not turn the lock. Any idea's?

yea, the key doesnt like to open my trunk...what you need to do it put the key in and jiggle it around and try and turn it, eventually you should get it. then when you open the trunk flip the lever back, and stop playing around with it, it locks out the power opener, so you have to have the key.

I did that, and my key was shot. (This was back when I didnt know that I could take out my seats.) Well the armrest hole lead to the trunk, there wasnt any backing on it, so me and my friend had to sit there trying to stick our hands and arms in to flip the lever. Yeah, it sucked...

If you have the hole cut behind the armrest then you can use a stick to filp the lever instead of pulling the seat out or trying to stick your arm through(which might work if you have long enough arms)

well, just pretend your car doesnt have a trunk from now on....also if you have any other sets of keys to the car, give them a try, but i really think jiggling it around will eventually work...

At least I'm not the only one.
I pulled the back seat out, took one big **** pry bar to get the seat bottom out.

not to jack the thread, but how come the orginal key the one with the black top and says nissan starts the car and opens the trunk but not the doors? Is this just me and my car??? I been wondering if it was common or not due to the keyless entry pad on the doors.

A valet key and a master key.

Hey internetautomart, this part confuses me too. I finally got the key cut to the code, and the key does work in the glove, but not in the trunk. And my alarm always goes off when I use the key to open the door.

Screaming - Best way if the key doesnt open the trunk, just take out the seats. Like what Maxima-4DSC said, it takes 5 mins. 5 clips, 4 screws and you're done.

sounds like what i've got.
I think that either:
A. lock cylinder is rusted tight (doubt it)
B. trunk was replaced but not the lock cylinder (more likely)

have you tried your key in the passenger door to disarm the alarm?

try spraying some WD40 inside the trunk lock see if that helps it turn...do you know if there is any possibility that the ignition key was changed and the door and trunk ones weren't?

Those seat bottoms takes some man-power to remove but the trunk is now functional

You probably have to flip that switch back down. It's for the valet lock so whenever you have your car valet parked they can't open your trunk with the key or by the trunk button but if you know the keyless entry code you can open it. Yeah definitely use a stick or a coat hanger and push the lever down then try it.
