gunk in my cai

i built my own cai about 3 months ago and since about mid august my car has been sitting in my driveway while i've been away at school, well i went home last week and took my cai off just because i had a feeling about it and when i checked the inside it had a gooish-greasy-almostlardish substance inside it, not real thick just a thin layer on the inside.i checked the pipe to make sure it was clean before i first put it in so i know that it wasn't always there.my question is has anyone every had this happen before? if so do u know what it is from?

i can't get pics cause i'm at school and probably won't go back till thanksgiving the best way i can describe it is like bacon grease only darker, i don't think pics would really help because it would just look like engine grease on a towel.

too much oil on the filter?

how many miles?

normally that happens after or at the throttle body, but not before.

hmmm here is 1 hose connected to the cai that can get oil in it....there are 2 connections of hoses onto the intake....one goes to a metal bar across the top of the engine...clean that out really good and make sure the hose on that, that connects to the cai has a wire brush in it
