Speaking Of CAI

Last month after looking threw the forum i came accross a thread on installing a civic (Arrrg) CAI into the 3rd gen engines. It looked pretty good as i saw alot of people have mad this mod. I decided to buy it off ebay. When i got the exact one that the thread starter got along with the instructions and so forth i started working on it. Then i came to see that the maf willl have to be take off and then put baxk on. I dont understand this. If we do this the maf will still regulate the amount of air that will be going into the engine anyway. I went and spoke to my mechanic and he said yea it wont make anysense. It will be cold air but it wont give that much of a boost. Is this true i tried to argue with him so hell do it for me but he was like its a waste of time but hell do it for me for about 200 bucks. Thats alot of moola just for some labor. Is this really woth it? The reason why i want him to do it is cause i dont understand how to get the maf and the pipe from the cai together without cutting it. I dont want to screw it up and be a**ed out. I tried to just put on the cai without the maf but engine cuts out. What are my options? BTW: I have and 89 max with a 92 engine. (under 65k)

wow

200 for an intake install? i'll do it for 175. give your mechanic a swift kick in the nuts and NEVER go back to him. He's trying to bend you over and lube your **** up.

you don't have to "remove the MAF" just the piping and install new piping. if the piping isn't correct then you may have to relocate the MAF which is a whole nother ballgame and in all honesty isn't worth it. if you're not sure what you're doing, buy the correct intake for your car. paying someone to fab an intake install is just insane

for 200 you can get a place racing intake in the group deal section and still have 75 to spare. It should come with a maf adapter too. Check out the group deal section pleez.

No hes not going to fab it. He's going to install it for me and that price is way too much. Its about an hour to 2 hour job. The guys on the org have done it already i just got confused and dont want to mess it up. i already purchased the cai and everything.
