Cup holder

My dad works at Gen. Dyn. and he uses a plastics machine that will make anything that you design on the comp. I think im gonna take advantage of this and try to design my own cup holders because a max doesn't have any.

Anybody got some pics of good looking cupholders that i might be able to borrow a design from?

Better yet does anyone know where to find some cup holders that wil fit into thst nice little dash pocket thats not used for anything?

Only thing I can guess is the one from a Saab 9000 or the ford taurus. You can try and have one of those produced but can fit super sizes and such.

I have this setup. It works really well (holds at least a 32 drink) and was less than $8.

It's a Spill Master JR. and I just removed the screw in the center console there and used a "L" bracket. It was secured with a bolt and double nutted. One of my favorite "mods"

try bicycle waterbottle holders/ they are the best looking things to use to create a design. try supergo.com they have alot of styles. that might get the creativity flowing.

Yes it does. The slot is called a DIN slot.

Im not sure of the type of plastic, but it's expensive stuf. it depends on the part it cant be bigger then like 1 ft^3. Send me a design though i i might be able to hook you up.

Sorry if this is a stupid response but I'm new to the maxima scene (just picked one up after selling my 240SX) I have a 92 SE that has a cup holder. Slides out of the top of the tray that pops out under the stereo. Has a spot for cans and another for slightly larger drinks

I know my brother in-law's 91 GXE Brougham does not have one. Is this a feature only in the SE's

The slide out cupholder underneath the radio only came on 92-94 Maximas and those without the doubledin BOSE CD/tape combo

I have the ford taurus ones in my car, I'll try and get a picture up for you guys. They work great and fit in perfectly. Minor drilling is needed into the cupholder frame, but installation took me no more than 15 mins.

No it's factory. Even shows it in the manual. If you have the Bose stereo or your car originally came with the Bose system you apparently didn't get the cupholder.

wpgmax and mymaxima29624 - read some of the other posts in this thread and you'll figure out why the 92 maxima had it but the 89 didn't

read c's post above. cupholders were an option with single din radios, bose or not. if you had the double din stereo, no cup option was given.

I am going to look ar the local garages and see it I can find any like this one. If I can't then I'll look for the others.

P.S.
IF they do and HAVE MORE than one I'll buy a couple in case someone else wants one.

you can pick up one from your local junkyard from pretty much any 90's ford car, they have the coin/cup slide out. ill post a pic. of how mine fits. it cost me about $4 and i had to move some wires further back, but it works nice.

Here's some pics of what one looks like installed. Fits cups up to 16oz

For 32 or larger I usually put it in the armrest and hold the cup by the armrest lid.
