dash, tail, parking lights not working.

i've seen similar threads but have'nt found a solution. Here goes. I turn on
the headlight switch and all come on including 3rd brake light & I assume brake lights but they are not real bright.Tail light fuse blows so I have no tail
lights, dash, markers, turning, license plate lights. Then all of these come on when I press the brake pedal. If I replace the tail light fuse and take out the brake light fuse nothing blows but of course i have no brake lights. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Bad ground? or maybe brake light switch?

Check your tail light fuse. When I did my foglight rewire I blew the fuse. I pretty sure that's it and it controls all of those components. I would also suggest looking at the wires for the brake lights and if they're all good then use a fuse thats 5 watts higher than stock**(Doing so is completely your choice)** I personally have a 25 watt fuse in there and it's 10 watts higher than stock. Again it's solely on you if something goes wrong.

I would not suggest using a high rated fuse, especially pertaining to the tail light fuse, exactly how I shorted out my TCU

Yes, using a fuse with a greater-than-stock resistance is a definite way to cause some serious damage. Resistance for each fuse is kept at a certain level for a reason.

The only reason why mine is higher is due to my fog lights being powered by them. Atleast they were. But I'm replacing them with some angel eye fogs. Great Deal in the Group Deal area btw. The only reason why it's like that is due to me being too lazy to get a seperate relay.

couple of things to look at, which have both been mentioned...

that circuit is the same as the illumination wire that runs to the stereo, so if you left that wire chopped off back there on a stereo install, it's likely that it's shorted to ground. It's a red/yellow wire I believe.
all you have to do is fold the wire over on itself, then stick some shrink wrap over the end or some electrical tape so that it doesn't touch ground again.

the othe issue is the rear tail lights. after a period of time, the cheap light sockets they use on our cars have a tendency to melt inside... this eventually causes shorts and other problems inside the tail light housing and can be the root of your problem here.. the solution is to get out the soldering iron and go to the parts store and buy another 1127 (or whatever bulb it is) socket. with a little "creavite engineering" you can install the new one in place of your old, melted one and you'll be good to go. usually takes me about 30 min to fix it. I've done three or four of them now.

or you could just do a full LED tail light conversion, IE nubiannupe

Hey! it's fixed! I guess i need to follow the rule of check simple things first but i thought that acting so strangely it would have been more complicated. My problem was the right brake light bulb(double filament?), one of the filaments was actually broken but it was hard to see & must have been shorting things out. Anyway, I haven't completely fixed it yet, i just removed the bulb & replaced all the fuses & nothing is blowing. I'll know for sure as soon as I can get a bulb. Thanks again.

*edit* It is working w/ new bulb. The hard part is i guess you can't just look to see which bulbs are still lighting up because this one was still burning. oh, well.

I am currently having the same issue, tail lights out, parking lights out and dash lights fully on with no adjustment. I haven't done anything to my car so this puzzles me. All fuses check good, even the tail light fuse in the IDPM fuse box. Tail light lamps have been replaced as well, still no improvement. Anyone have any other suggestions>
