Engine Oil Leak/Burning up?

I think that i have a problem. When i first purchased the max. It had many problems. I got the car for 200 bucks from a co-worker. She didnt take very good care of it. I got a new engine and tranny put in all under 64k. Before the new engine got put in there was an engine oil problem. I dont know what it was but being that i got the new engine i figure leave it be. i got the engine professionally installed. Now it seems like the engine is still either eating the oil or there is a leak somewhere. The thing is is that i dont see any oil residue when i park . So the oil is going somewhere else. How can i check to see where the problem is? I can take some pics of the engine to help but i dont know what the probelem is. Also i just got an oil change done like 3-4 weeks ago and checked it yesterday and thats when i saw that the oil is low. Is there a common problem with oil in our engine I think i have the vg30e being that its an 89 got the same exact engine. (Maybe i should have gotten the VE). I know its alot of typing but this is becoming a real PITA and want to resolve this issue.
