most likely you have a door stop as a motor....AKA yes it's a good chance your valves are bent along w/ other stuff.

yup.. if the timing belt came off or broke while the engine was running, I'm 99.9% sure your valves are gone.
I have an engine in the garage that snapped a belt on the highway and EVERY SINGLE valve is visibly bent, and there are dents in every piston.

You have to get a new engine to be on the cheap side. Changing the t-belt after it snapped won't fix the valves and pistons You need a complete engine rebuild which IMO will be a waste of money (unless you did some serious internal work that needs to be revived) if you can find the same engine for 300-400 at a local junkyard.

depends on your skills. i can do it...but others may have a problem...know what i mean. it's not rocket science...but if you do mess up you can say good bye to your motor...wanna risk it?
