Mockup of guage cluster

The product is coming together, I am still waiting for a shipment of plastic sheet to come in, but was ancy to make a mockup. It will be a 3 pod cluster with guages angled towards the driver fits 2-1/16" guages. Requires the move of your climate control unit to below the stereo (2nd DIN). This gives the driver a better view of the critical guages while driving and puts comfort in an ancillary role. Honestly, the climate controls are very easily still in reach, even if you have to shift. Here are some pictures of the cluster so far. I did not add the 3rd guage yet, and the plastic will overlay the Climate control section.

Who would be interested in one? I will post final pics when they are ready.

Brian

PS. if the pics dont show up they are on the bottom of this page

i think its pointless, moving the climate controle! i wana see a mockup of just that!
u can just stick thoes guages in the 2nd din. and look at them, as if u really needed them

but for thoes who would really need them they would just get a piller pod or two...

pretty far away from the road, plus unless you angle them, it's on the virge of worthless

The depth of the climate control unit is actually very slim, so it fits fine.

The point of moving the climate control is to give you a better view of the guages while driving, unless you are only using the guages for tuning or problem shooting, they would be better to have in a more easily viewed location.

I already have the A-pillar 3 pod holder, but this will accomodate another 3 guages.

It will be in the original location, i just covered it up momentarily to see how the guages would look angled.

Yes, I have already moved it, and it functions 100% the way it did before.

So far oil pressure, oil temp, a/f ratio. I will be adding EGT, Intake temp and Boost.

maxman....i think you should stick with a gauge pod
ever heard of "keep your eyes on the road" thas pretty dangerous....
i sat in the cockpit of my boys evo and he has a boost gauge right on the pod.....ITS PERFECT.....id reconsider on it.....i mean yes its a great project and it could show new things to other 3rd gen owners....but yo id reconsider
Note: the only reason u would need to look @ ur oil pressure, oil temp, etc is if your pushing ur max REAL REAL HARD! u might wanna keep ur eyes on the road while u do. (in my opinion)

but yo honestly its pretty tight...i look at ur project with both positives and negatives.....good luck to you and definetly show off pics when ur done (night shots would be awesom)

Do you have problems looking at your MPH or RPM guages or even your radio while driving? how is that not as dangerous??

I already have the A-pillar guage pod, and this is an expansion.

And for those that don't like the a-pillar pod this will be another option.

Thanks for the criticism.

hows the CC look moved? IIRC isnt the CC a little less wide than a cd player/cupholder...id consider moving it the cupholder would be better higher or even the cd player

it looks good! It is the same size as a single DIN, it just had different mounting surfaces.

The problem with putting the cupholder or CD player where the CC is, is that the depth of the dash there isnt too deep, that is where the dash supports slant upward. My CD deck wouldnt fit there.

well hell I wont to move my tv to the cc and it to the bottom den. Ok One you start doing some motor work and other thing you will need to moniter other things like oil temp.1989maxman ,If im not mistaking your going turbo right. So its good you are gettting them gauges. Save your self some money and leave the air fuel gauge alone Or if you got to have one buy mine. Its a c2.

Oh yeah marron max loose the bra.

Boost is in the works, but.... not turbo.

I have half of the guages already, still looking to get the Autometer Phantom EGT, Intake temp, and Boost guages.

I didnt have time to get a picture today, but I did get the shipment of plastic! So the fun will begin shortly, probably sometime during my christmas break I will get the first one fabbed up.

Brian

PS. The bra is OT send him a PM or take it to another thread.
