Premature Stereo Install Pics

Here are some preliminary pics of my stereo install for any interested. I got completely sidetracked and didn't take pics of some of the work, but it's all easy and I can explain stuff. Not pretty, but very functional. For all who care. Install Pics

btw: not in the best order, I get too anxious sometimes

i would suggest making those mounts point up a little bit, unless you like sound to muffle into your pants. but it looks nice, what kind of speakers are you going to install?

man, shut the **** up... who gives a **** whether it's his first stereo install "himself" or his hundreth. or for that matter how experienced you are. for all anyone knows he just took pics and decided to put them up for people searching (oh wait we can't at this site ) for pics of installs. if some how you assumed that your stuck up, sarcastic remark was undectectable, you were wrong. obviously it's not his first god damn stereo install, so that one's out the window.. in fact, that's probably a cleaner install than anything you've ever done..

you've been flamed

edit: yeah, your car domain site doesn't do much justice:P

I've done measuring and pathing, and found the stock location with pivotal tweeters to be the best option for me. I'm using Alpine Type R's w/ a 4channel amp. It's enough for me this year.

Thank you, Hectic. As I stated in at the top of the thread: This is for anyone who cares. A tool to help out those who have never done it. That's all. Go SOX!

looks good to me. Does anyone know if my sound will be affected by the fact that when I got 6.5s installed in my door the guy cut the original 4by6 opening into a 6.5? instead of making new pods.

Thanks for the compliment. I've used the original base for larger speakers on cars before. I feel if you're powering with the HU, you should be ok. Maybe add some dynamat for good measure. The pods or baffles just provide a little more strength and support for a more powerful speaker with an amp. My opinion. And they also let you customize speaker direction.

Install work looks very nice. You didn't mention what type and size of speakers you are installing and what amps, HU or wiring you are using. That might be helpful to others.

While you had the interior out and were spending money, I would have considered buying some new carpet, too. In that "speaker wire burial" pic, it looks kind of stained up.

from that page
"You will also note the stains on the carpet the previous owner left. Bear with me, it will not come out. In the future, new carpet."

If you had donated some funds you'd be able to search.

Thanks for the responses. No, it's not my first time installing. Do I work at a stereo shop? No. I just wanted to post the pics now while I am waiting for the damn online company to send me the rest of my order. I get impatient. (I will reiterate that numerous times)

As far as the stereo. I had to do it on a budget since I just spent tons of money to move halfway across the country only to find out I may do it again in another few months. Here's what I bought: (alp cda9825, type r 6.5 comps and 6x9 coax(no desire to add a sub until I get some coin saved), and a cheap clarion 4x50rms amp. I got 8 gauge power, 8g ground, 16g wire remote, 2 pair 6ft shielded o2-free copper RCA patch cords, 14g speaker wire, antenna adapter, assorted terminals, fuse holder, and nice customer service from local electronics shop. As I said, I neglected to take pics when I got to the HU wiring(didn't cut or splice into the original harnesses) and mounting, along with the crossover wiring. When I get a free moment, I'll take it back out and post you the stuff I did there. I thought about creating a write-up too, but figured there may not be enough interest.

The posts on this forum have helped me tons. I try to do everything myself, and thought someone may find this of interest in the same way. Thanks for the knowledge.

that's funny cheeze, cause i was thinking the same thing after reading your post. i find it really hard to believe that "um, i'm guessing LIKE, this is the first thing you ever did" followed by "congrats, i remember those days" is not sarcastic. of course you can go and say it wasn't, but i'm not naieve. what does his experience have to do with this thread? and what does your experience have to do with anything? it was oblivious to the thread. if it wasn't meant to be sarcastic, i bet you **** a lot of people off. i highly doubt that anyone not being sarcastic would go over to their friend's house, look at his car and say "i'm guessing like this is the first thing you ever did to your car? congrats, i remember those days in my life when i was so proud, you're just a young kid but keep up the good work and one day you may be an experienced car customizer like me" cause really, that's what you were saying

hmm, i've always thought "flamed" meant telling someone off in forums, but if i'm wrong i'm wrong. i wouldn't be ashamed to not know that
