If anyone should be talking about patents on this forum, it's Craig Brace and Matt Blehm, and NO ONE else. No offense to anyone, of course.
A)Patenting is expensive.
B)We already have 12 people for the group deal.
C)and yes i will take offense to: "If anyone should be talking about patents on this forum, it's Craig Brace and Matt Blehm, and NO ONE else. "
How can you limit peoples creativity and entrepreneurial prowess??

B) Closer review of my post is requested. The key phrase is "on their own". The only time you could worry about getting your idea ripped off is if someone duplicates this install on "on their own". Even if you have 100 people on the GD, it wouldn't worry you, as they will all be paying you to do it, right? That's the point I was making.
C) Yes, I firmly believe that Craig and Matt are among just a handful of true torchbearers on this forum. The number of products (Matt) and ideas (Craig) have come up with are truly something to bow to. Craig's web site alone is a treasure trove. The rest of us come here and share whatever little knowledge we have, some more than others.
Your last comment has got me confused. When did I ever make even the mere mention of stifling creativity? I am it's biggest proponent! I think it is great that you came up with the idea, and I had specifically mentioned that I did not mean any offense to anyone. What I do hate is when those who know nothing what they speak of, come here and act like they rule these forums, when only a handful truly do. I for one, only know enough to know that i don't know much! That's why I do not post merely to raise my post count. That to me, is a trivial pursuit. Again, good luck with the project.

UPDATE:
I don't want you to feel hanging or get worried, things are just slower than I had anticipated.
I havent heard back from the machine shop yet...
The gauge rings are in and the clusters are now 1/2 done.
Just waiting on the brackets and final fitment.

I have had some more interest on this, the initial deal was $55 for the first dozen. This is a rock bottom price just to get a few out there for people to see.
The first run is still being made, but if you can get 12 more interested I will start getting the stuff together for a second set.
The price for the second run will be $75 shipped within the lower 48. Again I can take full payment and it will ship as soon as it is ready, or $35 down to start, and $40 before it ships out.
Post again if you want to be the first on the second run, but I wont accept payments until the first run goes out the door.

I hadn't read this thread since I wasn't really interested in the cluster so I didn't see this until now.

Status is:
Rikshawman - the person handling the brackets has not been answering phone calls for the past month. So I take it he is skipping out on making them.
Luckily the deal was payment on delivery, so I have the money still. I am trying to get a couple more quotes from local shops, which I am feeling that the cost to have them made is significantly higher for such a small run (30 pieces).
Options:
1) Finish the brackets if the price is comparable.
2) Pay a little extra to make up the difference in the bracket cost.
3) Get the gauge cluster at a reduced rate without the brackets and alter the stocker bracket to work.
