Why is flushing the coolant system bad?

I was reading
http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=363360

and someone said he shouldn't have even flushed the system. Why?
thanks for your replies

if you neglected your coolant system...flushing it might pull some of the deposits off the walls of the coolant passages. those deposits might have been sitting around and it might've sealed a leak.

it's pretty much the same arguement as flushing the tranny.

in both cases the engine/tranny would've needed the work done regardless the flush done to it...it's just a matter of time.

I for one disagree with them. Flushing gets the sludge out that clogs the system. First thing to go on a car that never gets flushed is the heater core. There may be times when a flush made a pending problem show itself, but neglect was the problem, not the flush.

I didn't really want to flush mine, but I didn't have much choice. My rad and core were both full of rust Seems sorta odd, since the radiator isn't that old. I know the core is old as **** though.

Everything seems okay though

hah. I'd flush the coolant regardless (NOT the tranny) cuz I wanted maximum cooling.

The problem is that many org members are not first owners. running flush solution can remove anything a previous owner put in the coolant as an easy fix. I'm totally for drain/fill for the cooling system. Personally I switched over to the red stuff a couple years ago, and recently did a drain/fill when I did the vtc rebuild. Now if you have major problems like rust (a neglected system ) then sure flush away, and replace all the hoses as well. I replaced ALL my coolant hoses a while back, there was nothing wrong with ANY of them, I'm just a maintance freak and figured well 100k miles sounds like a good time to do them.
