Remote Trunk release
Remote Trunk release
Hey does any one know how to wire the remote trunk release. the manual for my keyless enty says to make sure it is a negative line and it says i should splice the line but the actual trunk release has two lines, so if anyone has wired there trunk release up please help
What you really need is the wiring diagram so you can see what kind of pulse goes to the trunk release relay (either 12v- or 12v+). From memory, the relay uses 4 wires which would indicate it's 12v positive at the trunk release switch - esp when you see the gauge of the wires at the switch. If your alarm uses a negative output pulse, you'd have to wire in a relay between the alarm & the trunk switch (most use a positive pulse). If you use a test lamp on the switch, one side will be the feed wire & should show approx 12v+. If you can't get a reading with a test lamp, use a digital volt meter & you'll see if the pulse is negative or positive.
I know this doesn't help much, but without a wiring diagram or knowing the specs of the alarm you're trying to fit, cannot be more specific.
New Zealand Maxima's came fitted with Code Alarm Pro1000 as standard (not the US factory alarm!!!)
Maybe some of the other guys who have fitted alarms can help?

the switch on the door has a + signal and send it to the trunk solenoid in the back
you'll need a relay to convert the negative output of your alarm to a + output. Check out my page on relays and it'll tell you how to do that
