Injectors, Clean or replace?

What do you guys think. Another fuel injector has gone on the car and I'm wondering if I should just have it cleaned or get them replaced. If replaced should I go with OEM?

I'm saying replace, on my previous 3rd gen, I had my injectors professionally cleaned and still didn't help, plus they charged me like 200 bucks, dunno if I got jibbed or not, and as far as OEM or not, I would say go OEM if you can man, OEM stuff seems to be of much higher quality than the aftermarket stuff, granted it cost less, and when I say OEM, don't head yourself over to the stealership and ask for it either, ask some other org members, I think they either know where you can get OEM or sell them.

What do they actually do when they profesionaly clean the injectors. I know they dont open them up at all. Is it realy that difficult to do it your self? What materials do they use?

At my shop, they actually took it apart and soaked it in some kind of solution,(both the shop owner and the mech working for the guy are 3rd gen fanatics) and were then gently brushed, checked and rechecked, I was there to watch, but for other shops, they usually pump some kind injectors cleaner in there, and some shop will call you over, and be like "see all the smoke coming out of your tailpipe? thats the deposits being burnt off" , that is a hoax, don't believe them, since the cleaners are usually kerosene based(which is closer to diesel and oil than gasoline) it will make massive smoke when burnt, but as I was saying, they usually use a concentrated injector cleaner that is not available "over the counter" in auto supply shops.

Hope that answers your question.

if mechanically they are bad then just replace with new OEM units.

if you're tight on the $ flow and would like to try a semi cheaper alternative you can always get them ultrasonically cleaned. they can even balance the flow on them afterwards...but sometimes that comes out to be more money than buying a new OEM injector.

or head over to your nearest junk yard and grab one, test it to see if it works, if it doesn't trade for another one as junkyards usually have like warrantee that will be valid "as long as they can remember your face." by the way, if 2 went, bad, the others are soon to follow, these things likes to fail in series, what necessarily means is that a big dent into your holiday cash build up (if any)

I'd replace them if you can. You're only biding time using the cleaner, and the longer it goes in its current state, the more it will cost you later in having to replace engine mounts and other equipment.

Replacing all 6 on a VG30, depending on if you take it to a chain shop or have someone you know and trust do it, can cost anywhere from I think $600-900. That's the price range I recall from when I was doing research on the same fix for my VE30.

If any place quotes over $900 for the fix, go elsewhere, as you're getting screwed.

what does the resistance look like?
if the resistance is off, cleaning them won't help.

as danny said a professional rebuilder ultrasonicly (sp?) cleans them and then flow checks them.
the shops use a cleaner that is injected via the fuel rail.

I sell brand new OE injectors (bosch same thing as OE)

You'll probley be getting an order from me in a couple weeks for injectors and a temp sensor. So far you are by far the cheapest i'v been able to find.
I realy hope this will be a project I can handel on my own. I'm all thumbs.

Let me know before you order, and if you're buying more than 1 injector I'll work a deal on it.
