Radio options questions..

My car has a Clarion CD player installed by previous owner. Its a little finicky but I would like to keep it as long as it continues to work. My question is replacing speakers and the use of factory amps. I have read the Faq's and craigs page to get some info but a few questions. Shown in the first picture is a harness that appears to be connecting Clarion CD player to factory harness to utilize the amps. Is this the $50 harness already installed? If it is great. Next Question is that my left side speakers, specifically the front left does not seem as loud as others with balance and fader set right in the middle, but it does sound like it is getting some power. Is this what happens when the amp fails? How can I check if they are good? And finally the third problem. Obviously the previous owner liked to fix things with liquid nails, as you can see by the box underneath the CD player in the second picture. What can I replace this with. I would like a finished looking cubbyhole box that I can put sunglasses, etc in. Can I get this through someone or is their one from another car that would fit? Thanks again for all the help, this site has been awesome at getting problems fixed on this car already.....

What I would do with that is replace all the crimp-on butt connectors by soldering the wires together and covering with heat shrink tubing. That makes a much better connection and won't give you any problems down the road.

all you've got there is the wiring harness adapter. a $10 shipped piece not the bose adapter.
