dying bell?

My '91 recently started having a problem with the door open bell. It used to make a "ding ding" sound when the door was open, etc. Now it goes back and forth between making a "ding tink" sound and a "tink tink" sound. Its like something is wedged in there against the bells.
Does anyone know WHERE in the dash this little annoying piece of hardware can be found? and if it can be removed easily?
Thanks

What you can do is when you open your drivers side door if you look on like the door framing on the car and look towards the bottom right you will see like a rubber piece with a circle on it. That is where the door hits a sensor and tells it when the door is open/closed. What you can do is take the rubber cover off, then unscrew the sensor and then just like tape it in the closed door position with some duct tape, and that will take away your ding/tink tink noise and you can always change it back later if you are going to sell your car or something.

Hehe. My old 2G developed this problem, although it was an ever-changing. Sometimes it would "tink-ding", others "ding-tink", and still others "tink-tink".

the actual "ding-ding" bell thing is mounted on the back of the cluster. gotta pull the cluster out which means all the plastic pieces in the way. center console. switch pannel thing around stering wheel and then plastic around cluster and then take out the cluster. pain in the a$$
