Finally

Well I finally took my 91 SE in to get the trans rebuilt. Brought it in Sat and it should be ready tomorrow(Thurs.). The total bill is around $2k including rebuild, new solenoids, torque converter, new front planetary gear(wasn't that bad but replaced anyways) two new trans mounts. The guy said amazingly after 210,000 miles the hard parts of trans were in excellent shape. I get a 2 year/24,000 mile warranty. I also questioned him on shift quality and supposedly they are going to drill out a feeder hole(s) on valve body .0010 of an inch to bump up pressure and recalibrate one of the solenoids. I pick it up tomorrow and we'll see what happens.

It's not like you can buy a much better car for that kind of money. At least now he knows he won't have to worry about his tranny for another few years.

Sounds pretty reasonable considering the warranty. Sometimes it is worth the extra piece of mind to pay a little more for that.

$2000 high? Thats nothing. I paid $3500. But I git a 5 year waranty. Best price I could get without one month downtime waiting for a tranny to be shiped with only 1 year warranty.
I have now paid around $8000 for this car ( including price of car and repairs)

Well I got the car back friday. Wow what a difference. The shifts are firm and quick. They did a nice job. The car feels so much more responsive now. I'm very pleased so far.

The only thing I had to take it back the next morning because there was a popping noise coming from front right suspension when I'd make a left turn or go up a driveway. They couldn't find out what was making the noise. I'm gonna take it to a suspension shop to get it checked out.
