so yesterday I was taking out my antenna so I could put in my new one. I disconnected everything but wasn't paying attention to how the old one was connected. Sounds funny but there's more. When I go to connect the new antenna all I see is one string of wires that lead to the tail light of course. Then I see another string of wires with some sort of harness attached to it as if was plugged into something. The only thing I was able to connect was the antenna coaxial jack that connects to the radio. As for the other wires including the ground wire, I have no idea where to connect them. By the way the new antenna is just like the OEM antenna. Any words of wisdom preach freely. Thanks as always.

 

That some sort of harness was attached to the time control unit on the OEM antenna. Since you say it is "just like the OEM," I am guessing this is an aftermarket antenna so there is no way the harness will just slip back on the antenna.

The ground wire on the antenna can be attached to the mounting bracket, which is bolted to the car providing a ground. There are 2 wires left, power and trip. Power will probably be red off the antenna and it must go to the brown w/ white stripe wire in the harness. Trip could be any color but is often blue or green, it goes to the green w/ yellow strip wire in the car harness. It should then work fine.
