peak rpm

i rarely go over 3k. didn't get tipped on a delivery today so i said "**** this job" and ripped up the ticket and credit card slip for my next delivery which meant i didn't have anything for the customer to sign and put a tip on, which resulted in me winding it up pretty high for the ride back to the hut out of frustration i don't like the feeling of running it so hard. i'm just curious how often you guys stay in the upper 3k. and who burns oil..

I burn gas like a **** (then again I'm not driving this POS because of the tranny so it's burnin nothing) Over 3k are you kidding. That's a way of life. What fun is it to not feel all to the torque and hp at it's finest?

my car spends about 60% of it's time above 4000rpm. rev limit at 7000 and I hit it several times daily. 218,000 miles on my car and still running strong. burns a bit of oil, but it has since I got it. still meets factory compression numbers, so I'm not worried about it.

My auto has a rev limit of around what 6000-6500 and it hits it a few times a day as well. Why drive slow when you can drive fast and have fun?

(BTW I dont speed too much, just accerate like heck up to about the speed limit, I still get like 290miles pertank!!)

You'll be fine if you dont keep it 5500+rpm for super long peroids of time. Remember nissan engines are very durable. Make sure they have good oil and your fine!

My rev limit is ~7,200 rpm. Still pulling when I get there. Sorta scared to do that all the time.

I've hit 7,000 rpm with no ecu mods on my VG before... stupid ****ing clutch slipped hard and make the engine rev uncontrolably... Shifted into 4th and the needle slammed to 7,000 rpm and I confirmed it with my S-AFC

It did it one more time and I saw the needle hit 8,000 rpm but the AFC said it only went to 7,000 rpm... not sure what to believe. All I know is my engine is luckily still alive and I will never shift the way I did again to make the thing slip like that.

I was downshifting and the clutch grabbed then all of the sudden let loose and the engine just revved to 7,000. I think it most likely went past the rev limiter because the engine was under a lot of load then when the clutch slipped made it accelerate out of control. Went up so fast it was like the rev limiter wasn't even there.

WHAT THE FAWK

What kind of delivery? I assume Pizza with the CC slip and tips. Are you a fawking tard? Actually I wouldn't doubt it seeing some of the s I have working for me.

Nissan engines tend to take a beating very well. But you gotta pay to play, so stay on the bench if you cant afford it.

so the rev limit is at 6000 for stock VG ECU?

I've only hit 6000 a couple times since i've had the car. it was just on regular motor oil (penzoil non-synthetic)... and it was totally black from burning when i changed it out for mobil1 last month. the oil was about 1 year old. normal driving rpm was around 2500.

is there something wrong with my car? if so how hard is it to fix?

There's a guy with a 4th gen who regularly revs to 8,000 rpm's. That's with a VQ though....

Company car? Thats the only way I can see free insurance.

I dont see why you would want to rip up a customers CC slip. Courtesy and organization = better tips. Every now and then you get people who just dont tip, but if you pull in a $4-5 average tip it doesn't really matter and it isn't anything to get fusterated about, esp. when you consider your risking a ticket/call in/etc.

(before I was promoted I was the best driver. I still hold the company record for most tips and number of runs, and I wasn't speeding or driving the maxima )

The funny thing is you probably wasted more money in gas then you would have made from the tip .

Damn... 8000rpm... I drove my Rx-7 for the first time today and even with the rotary I didn't to take it up that far... plus I think the engine in the rex is on its way out, so I might as well not push it and ruin the rotor housings (Bought it with a "dead" engine but I got it running anyway... so if it blows I havent lost anything). I usually run my maxima around 3k-4k when Its cold out so that it warms up faster..
