Are VE and VG MAF's different?

Subject says all.

I just had MAF go bad on my 2001 PF, and I am worried and want to look for one for my beloved Max... Just wanted to know if one from a VE will work on a VG.

Yes, they are exactly the same, I've swapped my VE with a VG before...same part number and everything.

Well, I have a spare one and it's not for sale...

You had better make sure you get the right one. Your 2001 Pathy should be a 3.5 VQ, which probably has a different MAF.

Wow, I didn't know so many people had so many extra MAF's...

Anyway, why and how does one fail? I mean, can it be repaired? What is the component that fails? Is it electrical or mechanical?
