ASP Racing UDP Installed
Just got my car back last week from the dealer service dept with the new pulley installed. Got a whole bunch of stuff like 90K tune-up, new water pump, crank oil seal, new Stillen MM pads and the UDP! The car revs up really smooth. Doesn't feel like it's pulling up hill all the time. Tach winds up to 4K real easy. ASP's belt recommendations were right on. My dealer said it went on real easy. Don't know what the real horsepower difference is, but it sure feels nice. www.aspracing.com
See you at Carlisle!

wow
what a coincdedence..i just got my ASP underdrive pulley installed today..i like the way it feels now..much smoother power..and i was sellin it too...and no one wanted to buy it o well lol...well worth the dough in my case
The pulley was $129 plus s&h and the belts were about $30 for Gates brand. Didn't really cost me anything additional for the instal because I was getting the crank oil seal replaced anyway.
Stillen wing
Yep. It's from Stillen also. It's fiberglass. Got a stress crack and spider-webbed on the one corner within 8 months of being installed. It wasn't quite straight when it arrived. It's actually the one thing I got from them that I wasn't real thrilled with for the money. Wasn't cheap (nothing is from them) but don't remember how much. It also has their eruthane cover for the third brake light. If you order one and it's not perfectly level, send it back. That's what I should've done.
To all who installed the UDP:
I am planning on installing one on my 93 GXE and would like to know several things:
1. Does the UDP affect accessories(sp?)? (i.e. A/C, Radio, my 600 watt sound system, power windows, etc....)
2. If it does....then would getting a higher powered alternator help?
3. Is the power really noticable?
4. I am will be getting mind for around $55 is this a good price and is it worth it?
Thanks for your help.

No noticeable affects on electrical accessories so far. I just have an Alpine head unit and cd changer with stock Bose speakers for the stereo, so I have no major requirements there anyway. The car revs much more freely than before, as I said. Definately noticeable, but I have no hp figures. The car has never been dynoed. $55 sounds darn good! Almost too cheap. Is it an Unorthodox Racing brand?
Heres some info/FAQ on UDPs-->
I'm planning on getting one this summer, and this FAQ is very informative--> Info on UR UDP(applies to all brand UDPs)

ASP is developing one for me...actually for all GXE's(currently they only have one for the SE's). I will test out the prototype so that's why I get the really good deal.
The thing is, I get different story's from different people. Some say there is noticable difference because the alt. runs slower, others like you say there is no negative effects. I am getting it anyway just want to be prepared. My lights already dim when I open the windows or something so I don't want my car to shut down completely.
Thanks for the advise,
Roman
Hey Roman
I think that if you're running a system like you are, then a UDP is not the best idea, especially since your lights already dim when you open a window! I wouldn't advise it, but if ASP thinks it's all right, then whatever floats your boat.
BTW, anyone know how difficult these are to install? I think I'll just get one when it's time to replace my timing belt, which is a long time from now *sigh*.

UDP for VG
Unorthodox Racing currently has a pulley for the VG and you can get it at www.courtesyparts.com for about $190 without belts. Also, Roman said that ASP is prototyping one which will probably be a lot cheaper.

JibaroMax...
That's pretty much what I got out of it too. Really nice up high and much smoother on the low end. Doesn't feel like it's trying to get "over the hump" any more.
For hoey-The ASP Racing one is the only one I know of for the VE30DE.

I think you are right but do you think that a new, more powerful alternator would help? The reason the lights dim is because of the weak alternator, I don't think it's the battery. So I figure that if I get a new high powered alternator, I'll be able to install the UDP and everything would work fine. Does this sound right?
get the ASP UDP at www.rpmoutlet.com. it's like 100 shipped i think.
wow, this is such an old thread that i had already bought a vg udp, got into an accident, and then bought my ve. i guess i just have to buy the asp now.
