Keyless Keypad

How does this work. I just picked up a 91 GXE that has this feature. The car acts weird sometimes. Sometimes I can't open open the trunk, doors or turn on the car with the key. But sometimes it work. I think that it has something to do with the security system.

How do I go about finding out the keypad sequence or getting it resetted?

thanks.

they keypad wont lock you out UNLESS you press the lock button on the pad, from the outside of the car, and only when the key is not in the ignition.

So if you dont know your code and have not taken the 5-10 minutes it will take you to remove glove box, write the S# code, and reprogram it, then dont touch it....

BTW, yes it will lock you out. Sometimes when I start my car to let it warm up, if I get out a shut the door harder than normal, my doors lock. If I wouldn't have known my code, I'd have been up the creek. But yes, sometimes it will lock you out.
Also, you don't need to remove the glovebox, just take a flashlight and look up and behind it and find a seven digit number. Then consult your owners manual.

if you prefer to put your feet on your head rest, your head on the floor and and squinting in the dark with a flash light trying to find a box that you have neverseen before, and a number written on a 15 year old sticker that maybe partialy faded out.....

then yes you dont need to remove the glovebox, but if you dont want to go thrue the hassel, you could just remove the 8 screws and the 1 bulb (wich twists right out) from the glove box to have the Bronze colored box with the S# staring you in the face.

Just giving him an easier way. but by all means try and find that box in what ever way suits you.

edit: oh and closing the door hard wont lock you out, thats why the alarm will only ingage (lock all the doors) if you are out side and the key is NOT, not, in the ignition. if the key is in the ignition and you press the lock button you should hear a buzzing sound. your master control switch may be malfuctionig and locking you out (the lock button on the driverside that locks all the doors)
