Gas smell...yes I read the stickies
So I have this bad gas smell so after reading the stickies I checked the rail hoses and they seem fine. However, right at 3 of the injectors I see gas, but its not spraying out, just sought of sweat. Is there a gasket there that can go bad? And how hard are they to replace? Thanks for all the info!

just kidding. It took me some time to pinpoint mine, its the rail underneath the intake manifold. very hard to see and impossible to replace without taking off intake manifold. but you can tighten it without taking it off. try that, i assume thats where youre saying its leaking. look in the stickies again the first link Dan put in there has pics, and its one of those that shows you what im talkin bout.

mmmmm onion rings
internetautomar: Thanks for the info!
On this picture at the top left, under the green injector cap(?), there is a small round piece of metal with 2 screws in it, that is what seems to be leaking on three of the injectors. I'm assuming there would be the o rings under them. Is there any special tips to replace them. Should I oil the rings first?

Once you get the injectors out of the rail, install new upper and lower o-rings. Install the fuel rail back on first, be carfull not to damage the rubber insulators, then, use ALOT of vasaline and lube up the inside of the rail were the injectors go. Oil does not work well here, its a tight fit, and you can deform or tear the lower o-ring.
Twist and turn the injector in the rail as far as you can, them put the caps back on and let the screws drive it home.
Also, change all of the fuel lines (they look like crap) and the clamps. Besure and use fuel line for FUEL INJECTION......

I've already put nearly $400 worth of work into this car in less than a month!
Separate those issues mentally, hlps. Now leaking is very basic issue: either u have wrong kind of seals, or the seals ripped while inserting. Take out, buy new, try with better hope. Thats where we all stand...
One far away possibility is too high pressure. There is a regulator that should keep the pressure at 30 (wasit psi?). Hopefully does his job...
Dont let mechanics spoil u day. If that happens, it eats u whole life.
Have a nice day!

The thing is that the old seals were not ripped at all they looked fine (to me anyway). I was expecting some ripped up o rings. Is it possible that the leak is comming from somewhere else and getting to these spots? But I only see it at 3 injectors, no trail or anything!

here is how i finally found exactly where my leak was coming from.
let the car sit for like 7 hours (that way all gas has dried up). go start it up and then pop the hood. use the throttle to give it gas and inspect where the gas is coming from.
hope this helps, its how i found mine, since it was leaking underneath the intake manifold and i couldnt see it. i finally found it running down a pipe.

The rail itself is a product that can leak from seams or have a hair thin crack. Highly unlikely, but possible. Anyway, the gas travels from that spot so that its not possible to locate the source.
Do as suggested by tripleG, dry first all. Maybe u can then wisely paper all around (thin one layer)put ign on and use bright light. The paper should hinder gas travel: the first spot to become wet is u problem area. Pump raises the pressure. Watch and locate.
There might be better ideas... think. Thin layer of smtg which shows where the leak starts, veeery thin layer of wood dust? Some spray which visibly interacts with gas, and is easy to get rid of later?
Matches ....nooooo.

Success! At least I think. After a long drive home, after making some clamps extra tight, it seems like all the leaking is gone. And it was pretty cold today, around 25, and after driving there was NO gas smell. I just hope this work holds up! Again, thanks guys for all the info!
